Don’t Be Soft
If there’s one thing that drives me NUTS is when people tell me to “tone it down”, “relax” or just “have power, but have SOFT power – you’re a woman, after all.”
Yes, I’m a woman, but NO – I do NOT have to be soft.
I don’t need to show “soft” power, and “get in touch” with my feminine side. Trust me, each month I’m reminded, quite clearly, that I’m a woman.
No need for additional hints.
So what is a woman to do?
A woman that wants to run her own company, raise kids to be decent humans, and blow the doors and ceilings off should do just that – however she sees fit.
I don’t condone being an asshole. I don’t want to be a bitch (though people call me that just because I’m not being “soft” – to them I have a special hand gesture).
If a woman wants to rule her world, take no prisoners, earn a million bucks (just for shits and giggles – not to buy more fucking purses), drive a fast car (or in my case a fast car AND a motorcycle) – then for the love of all things good DO IT.
Do not apologize.
Do not compromise.
Find a way.
Our mentors are few and far between, so find the mentor within.
Read a book.
Subscribe to great people.
Learn new tricks.
Be powerful AND kind.
Fail often. It’s not losing – it’s failing. That’s just a slightly upside-down success. Turn it around.
Do not put a ceiling upon your own success goals. Think not about why it CAN’T happen – think about why it CAN.
Then put on your Big Girl Pants and get to work.
This post is dedicated to all the hard-ass bitches, amazing women who blaze new paths, apologize for nothing, learn, grow, love and then love some more.
