The ONE Thing That Guarantees Success

I like watching baseball and I particularly enjoy the championships. If you watched this year, you will know the two championship teams were the Houston Astros and the Washington Nationals. The Washington Nationals weren’t in a very strong place about mid-season, but at one point it seemed like they were catching lucky break after lucky break. Some say they won because they have a veteran team or they won because they have a good culture. And all of those things are absolutely true.

But I believe there was one particular secret that actually made them win. At the mid-season when they recognized where they were, the coach told his team, “pick the one thing that you’re going to work on and you’re going to work on it every single day at two o’clock. We’re going to work on it until we’re brilliant at it.”

Every player on the team picked something. And every day they showed up at two o’clock and they worked on just that one thing.  They believed that if they could master that one thing, it would allow them to be at the top of their game, whatever position it was that they played. And I believe that in conjunction with having veterans on the team, that is why they had such a phenomenal season.

If you’re stalled and you don’t know what to do, I suggest you do the same as the Washington Nationals. Pick one thing. There’s a thousand ways that you can probably make money in your business, but one of them is going to be really, really good at delivering that bottom line. Find the thing that gives you energy and gets you out of bed every morning. When you have that attitude, you will go and seek opportunities, seek relationships, seek interactions that will allow you to make that particular goal a reality. So, I want you to do me a favor. I want you to pick one thing.

Tell me what that one thing is. My one thing is webinars. I’m going to do a boatload of those things. Why? Because they work. They get my message out there. They teach, they coach, they make people better and when I feel that I can make people better, the impact is unmistakable. So now that you know what I’m going to do, what are you going to do? Let me know!
